Bareilly city is located to the bank of Ramganga River in the Bareilly district in the northern state of India, Uttar Pradesh. It is situated around 252 km north to the Lucknow and 250 km east to the New Delhi. It ranks 4th in Uttar Pradesh state having CNG fuel stations as well as 7th largest metropolitan city of UP and 50th largest metropolitan city of the country. It was founded in 1537 by the prince named Bansaldev and Baraldev (sons of Jagat Singh Katehriya) that’s why also known as the Bans-Bareilly. It has the population (2011) of around 898,167, literacy rate 84% and situated in the area of 235 km2.
